Making the Most of Work Experience

Learning Outcomes

 

Students will develop an awareness of, and/or skills in:

  • describing & demonstrating the main qualities, attitudes & skills needed to enter & thrive in the working world
  • identifying what they have learned about work from their work experience
  • knowing their rights and responsibilities at work
  • understanding some of the changes happening in the world of work
  • collecting & using relevant information about available opportunities
  • understanding the importance to employers of skills, attitudes and qualifications
  • describing the main hazards associated with particular types of workplace

Description of activity

This programme is delivered over 2 sessions working with local employers

Preparation event

comprises 3 workshops operating on a carousel basis

 

workshop A: ARC Theatre Company – Health & Safety in the workplace

workshop B: What Makes an Ideal Employee?

workshop C: What If? scenarios

 

Debrief event

 

students review and evaluate their work experience placement
