Step 4ward Mentoring

Barnet EBP’s Mentoring programme received accreditation from the Mentoring & Befriending Association in 2009


Learning Outcomes


Students will develop an awareness of, and/or skills in:

  • taking risks and learning from mistakes
  • reflecting on recording their achievements, abilities, interests & skills and use this process to make creative & realistic choices for progression
  • seeing the benefit of further learning and personal development
  • demonstrating qualities including adaptability, perseverance, determination, flexibility, creativity, improvisation, confidence, initiative and autonomy


Description of activity

regular contact with a carefully matched business volunteer within a 6 month programme. Mentor will undergo CRB clearance and will participate in a training programme delivered by Barnet EBP

each session will be structured by key objectives for each student. These will be developed in consultation with the Head of Year and School Mentor Co-ordinator.

close liaison between the Barnet EBP and the School Mentor Co-ordinator to ensure the programme achieves the agreed objectives

1 hour per fortnight over 6 months, to include launch, mid-way and finale events
